The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly prepared to make multiple significant moves throughout the offseason to bolster both the offense and defense.
Dallas is reportedly “in the market” for a second wide receiver behind Ceedee Lamb and is prepared to pursue Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp if the trade price “drops far enough,” according to Dan Graziano of ESPN.
The Cowboys would likely have to part ways with a mid-round draft selection while taking on salary to acquire the former Super Bowl MVP.
The upcoming free agency class is also expected to have multiple veteran options available for Dallas to pursue. However, Cowboys co-owner and COO Stephen Jones said the team will be “selectively aggressive” with spending, per NFL.com.
Potential options for America’s Team in free agency include Stefon Diggs, coming off a torn ACL, or Chris Godwin, who dislocated his ankle and missed the final 11 games of the Buccaneers’ season.
On the defensive side of the ball, Dallas is preparing to make multiple moves with key team members.
Dallas is currently engaged in conversations with defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa on a contract extension and could pay him upwards of $21 million per season, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
However, the Cowboys are also expected to use the franchise tag on Odighizuwa if a long-term agreement is not reached. This would mean the team would pay him a projected $25.1 million for one season, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
The movement of these negotiations coincides with Dallas opening negotiations with star pass rusher Micah Parsons, who is expected to command one of the largest defensive contracts in recent memory.
Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reported on Sunday that the two sides have begun general discussions, though it remains unclear how quickly an agreement will be reached.
Parsons has continually said that he is prepared to accept less money on a yearly basis to remain with the franchise to help the team make available additional funds for new players, as previously reported by DX.
