City of Carrollton issued the following announcement on April 21

The Carrollton City Council issued a proclamation recognizing May as Building Safety Month at the Tuesday, April 20 meeting.

Building Safety Month is an international campaign celebrated in May to raise awareness about building safety. The campaign is sponsored by the International Code Council (ICC) and its local and state chapters, reminding the public about the communities’ local code officials who assure us of safe, sustainable, and livable structures.

“The consistent review and adoption of updated construction codes ensures and enhances the sustainability of the built environment for the City of Carrollton,” Building Official Brett King said. “Building codes and their enforcement protect citizens from disasters like fires, weather-related events, and structural collapses, and maintain a level of health, safety, and welfare for our citizens by creating safe buildings and a safe community.”

The ICC is a partnership of professionals from the building construction, design, and safety communities that comes together with corporations, government agencies, professional associations, and nonprofits to promote building safety through proclamations, informational events, legislative briefings, and more.

King, along with Plan Review Manager and Senior Engineer Rob Guarnieri, and Inspection Services Superintendent Ray Davis, all from the City’s Building Inspection department, were on hand to accept the proclamation and be recognized for their service to Carrollton.
