Effective Monday, June 13, DART will temporarily adjust one-third of its bus routes in an effort to increase service reliability for customers amid a nationwide shortage of bus operators.

According to DART, these changes will create a temporary five-minute reduction in frequency on most routes currently operating every 15 minutes, meaning their new interval is 20 minutes. DART will also change the 20-minute midday and early evening service to 30-minute service.

The changes will affect 31 of DART’s 97 total bus routes.

The company wrote in an announcement, “These temporary service frequency adjustments will ensure that passengers can rely on the DART bus service schedule, improving service and reducing bus stop wait times, while we continue to aggressively recruit new bus operators.”

The light rail service, as well as service on the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) and the Dallas Streetcar, will remain the same. For more information about these changes, visit the DART website.

Based on the success of DART’s hiring goals, the company plans to restore regular frequency on all bus routes beginning January 23, 2023.
