Georgia-based Southwire has begun construction on a 1.18-million-square-foot customer service center in Fort Worth.
The project will create 250 jobs when it is completed in the second quarter of 2024, according to a news release.
Southwire manufactures building wire and cable among various products, including contractor equipment, electrical components, hand tools, and job-site power and lighting solutions.
The company provides a variety of field and support services and is one of North America’s largest wire and cable producers.
“We’re pleased to welcome Southwire to Fort Worth,” Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker said in a statement, per the press release. “Southwire provides power responsibly to customers around the world, and now they can modernize their operations with new, state-of-the-art technology at their Customer Service Center at AllianceTexas.”
The new North Texas facility will distribute a full suite of Southwire services for commercial, residential, utility, and industrial clients.
“At Southwire, we’re investing more than a billion dollars into modernization, integrating newer and better equipment, systems, and technology into our operations to increase efficiency, enhance competitiveness and ensure the capability and capacity to support our strategic growth,” President and CEO Rich Stinson said in a statement from AllianceTexas.
Southwire, which has been in business for over 70 years, said it is coming to AllianceTexas for its potential long-term growth.
“This CSC will take Southwire’s customer service to a new level,” COO Norman Adkins said in the statement. “A modern, automated facility in the center of the United States will provide world-class fill rates and on-time in-full deliveries for our customers. We look forward to the growth opportunities that this facility will bring to our company.”
Southwire said the facility will be comfort cooled for employees. It will have modernized storage solutions and automated material handling, the news release said.
“We’re excited to open a new CSC in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and build on our commitment to deliver best-in-class service to our customers,” said Aaron Asher, Southwire’s vice president of distribution, transportation, and materials management. “At this facility, we will distribute products for the full suite of Southwire solutions and offer customized service plans that will further differentiate Southwire.”
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Fort Worth has been seeing substantial buy-in from developers and companies due to its geographical situation. It also appears to outcompete Dallas, which has been hampered by the time-consuming nature of its building permit process. It has become a subject of ire for the development community, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
