A new luxury hotel has opened in Dallas’ landmark cultural arts district.

JW Marriott, a division of global hotel brand Marriott Bonvoy, announced Wednesday the long-awaited opening of its JW Marriott Dallas Arts District hotel.

It is the brand’s first hotel to debut in Dallas and the third North Texas hotel built by Plano-based commercial real estate firm Sam Moon Group.

The 267-room hotel is located at Ross Avenue and Harwood Street in downtown Dallas.

It spans 12 stories and features three elevated dining rooms, two lobby spaces, an upper-level swimming pool with cabanas, and over 20,000 square feet of flexible meeting space. There is also an 11th-floor sky lobby with dedicated art installations, a floating staircase, a glass railing, and more.

Alongside offering an array of opulent amenities, the hotel is within comfortable walking distance of several of the city’s major attractions, including the Dallas Museum of Art, Meyerson Symphony Center, Moody Performance Hall, and the Winspear Opera House.

“We are excited to bring JW Marriott’s legacy of extraordinary hospitality, thoughtful design, and enriching experiences to the Dallas Arts District,” said Bruce Rohr, JW Marriott’s global brand leader, in a Wednesday press release.

“Much like the introspective way guests explore the hotel’s neighboring cultural institutions, JW Marriott Dallas Arts District will provide travelers with even more ways to enjoy every moment to the fullest and find inspiration and moments of mindfulness during their stay,” Rohr added.

The hotel’s on-site culinary options include Margaret’s, a ranch-to-table restaurant offering three meals a day located on the 11th floor; Vincent’s Sky Lounge, a sensuous mid-air bar that pays homage to Vincent van Gogh’s Starry Night; and 800 North, a street-level cocktail lounge with expertly sourced wines and light bites.

“All three of the outlets will incorporate herbs grown in the hotel’s JW Garden, an innovative hydroponic Farmshelf system in which herbs are grown to be used as garnishes, in cocktails, and as subtle ingredients in various dishes including the Texas Iberico carbonara and smoked Black Angus carpaccio served at Margaret’s,” JW Marriott detailed.

Dallas-based firms HKS Inc. and Looney & Associates collaborated on the hotel’s architecture and interior design, which JW Marriott said showcases the artistic and thematic elements that “played a part in the growth and success of Dallas.”

“Guests arriving at JW Marriott Dallas Arts District are sure to be wowed by the spectacular design, works of art, and breathtaking views, but the experience doesn’t stop there,” Mike Culver, the project’s general manager, commented.

“Our expert associates look forward with great anticipation to welcoming our guests and surpassing their expectations for warm, inviting luxury in this cultural hub neighborhood,” he added.

DPR Construction served as the general contractor for the full-service hotel in partnership with Stream Realty Partners and Sam Moon Group.

Other projects from the Sam Moon Group include the Hyatt Regency Stonebriar in Frisco and the Legacy West Renaissance Hotel in Plano.
