The Texas Rangers have signed first-round pick (No.4 overall) Wyatt Langford.

According to MLB Pipeline, the former Florida outfielder is signing an $8 million deal, the fifth-highest bonus ever given to a draft pick.

“This draft was particularly exciting given the level of player we were able to get in Wyatt,” Rangers Executive Vice President and General Manager Chris Young said as he introduced Langford to media on Tuesday. “We think he’s the perfect fit for what we’re building here — who he is as a person, his winning pedigree, and certainly his talent as a player.”

The Rangers selected Langford fourth overall in the MLB Draft earlier this month after he hit .373 with 21 home runs for Florida this season, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

As one of the most Major League-ready hitters in the draft class, he has ascended prospect rankings across the organization and baseball in general, ranking as the No.11 prospect in the sport and overtaking fellow outfielder Evan Carter for the top spot in the Texas farm system, according to Baseball America.

Langford will report to Arizona to begin training with the club’s other draft picks.
