The Texas Rangers and Frisco RoughRiders continued their seasons on Tuesday.

Here is what happened on the field and behind the scenes.

MLB

Texas Rangers (57-39, first in American League West)

Last Game: Rangers 5, Tampa Bay Rays 3

Marcus Semien got the scoring started with a solo home run in the third, and Travis Jankowski gave Texas a 2-0 lead in the sixth.

Tampa cut the deficit to one in the seventh, but shortstop Corey Seager responded with a three-run homer to regain control for the Rangers. Tampa scored two more in the eighth, but Will Smith shut the door as the Rangers won their fifth straight.

Noteworthy: Texas ties its best start in franchise history at 57-39. The Rangers now lead the Houston Astros by 4.5 games in the AL West.

— The 5-0 start since the All-Star break ties the best start to the second half of the season in team history and the team’s longest winning streak this season.

— Starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi allowed just two hits across six innings. It was his 10th quality start of the season, and he is 10-1 since April 18.

— Seager hit his 14th home run of the season and is now hitting .348. He has 30 RBIs in 53 games since returning from the Injured List in May.

— The Rangers have selected the contract of reliever Alex Speas, optioned deliver John King to Triple-A Round Rock, and designated pitcher Taylor Hearn for assignment.

MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL

Frisco RoughRiders (39-45, fifth in Texas League South Division, eighth in AA Texas League)

Last Game: RoughRiders 6, San Antonio Missions 2

Outfielder Evan Carter knocked in two runs and scored three times to lead Frisco to a win.

It all started with an RBI triple in the first, which allowed him to score on a wild pitch to give the RoughRiders a 2-0 lead. He followed that with a home run in the fifth and scored on another wild pitch in the seventh, while Chris Seise and Aaron Zavala also added RBIs and Frisco starter Dane Acker held the Missions to just one run and two hits in five innings to earn his first win with the club.

Noteworthy: Frisco had three extra-base hits on Tuesday, ending a brief two-game streak without any.

— Seise and Zavala both had their first three-hit performances of the season.

— Before the game, pitcher Danny Duffy was reinstated from the Temporary Inactive List. He pitched one inning and allowed one run.

— Carter entered the game hitting .342 over his last 20 games.

Next Up: San Antonio Missions (43-42) at RoughRiders, 7:05 p.m. CT Wednesday
