Dallas police have arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting that killed a 21-year-old mother and injured a man on Ingersoll Street in West Dallas.

The event, which was captured by a Ring video camera, took place on April 11 at about 1 a.m. in the 2600 block of Ingersoll Street and resulted in Aureanna Hernandez’s death, as reported by The Dallas Express. The identity of the other victim has not yet been released by police, according to Fox 4 News.

According to the arrest affidavit, Hernandez and one other individual were approached by Johnny Sincere Garcia IV and three other suspects, per Fox 4 News. Prior to the incident, Garcia had threatened the family of the person Hernandez was with, Fox 4 News reported.

Hernandez was killed and the other victim was hurt as Garcia and the other suspects moved down the street, shooting automatic guns. Multiple bullet holes were discovered in nearby residences and cars after the shooting, per Fox 4 News.

The incident occurred in Dallas City Council Member Omar Narvaez’s District 6.

“We believe this is an isolated situation,” Narvaez said about the shooting, per Fox 4 News. “Total disgust and fear for the residents that live in my district.”

Garcia is currently being held in Dallas County Jail on a $1 million bond.

Gun-related murder is up in Dallas by nearly 22% since the start of 2023, according to the Dallas Police Department’s crime statistics dashboard.
