The City of Dallas experienced a rare quiet weekend with only two homicides, Dallas Police Spokeswoman Kristin Lowman confirmed to The Dallas Express in an email Sunday.

Man Fatally Shot on S. Jim Miller Road

Dallas PD is investigating a shooting that killed a man Saturday morning, police said.

The shooting took place at about 8:35 a.m. on April 29 in the 200 block of S. Jim Miller Road, according to a news release.

The incident occurred in District 8, which is represented by Dallas City Council Member Tennell Atkins.

Officers who responded to the shooting call discovered a man lying on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound.

Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the scene as well to treat the victim, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The victim was identified as 26-year-old Jonathan Andrews, police said.

This is an ongoing murder investigation, police said.

The DPD asks anyone with information regarding this investigation to contact Detective Christopher Walton at 214-701-8453 or by email at [email protected].

Man Fatally Shot at Red Bird Lane

Dallas police are looking for an unknown suspect who shot and killed a man Saturday evening, police said.

The incident occurred at about 7:40 p.m. on April 29 in the 1200 block of Red Bird Lane, located in District 3, which is represented by Dallas City Council Member Casey Thomas II.

Police were called to the area to investigate.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man shot in a business parking lot, according to a news release.

The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries, according to police.

Police identified the victim as 38-year-old Clovis Dawayne Braxton.

The suspect, whose identity is unknown at this time, was last seen wearing a black shirt and orange Nike shorts and running north on University Hills Boulevard toward Ledbetter Drive, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to please contact Detective Thomas French at [email protected] or by phone at 214-671-3650.

Unfortunately, two homicides is comparatively few in Dallas, where statistics currently show a 23% increase in murders over last year, according to DPD’s daily crime briefing report.
