Coppell ISD has announced that Chris Trotter will be the district’s new chief operations officer.
Trotter officially joined the district on July 5 and brings 31 years of experience along with him.
Trotter has built a “reputation of advocacy for the school children in Texas, strategic growth management and conservative fiscal policies,” according to a Coppell ISD press release.
After earning a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of North Texas, Trotter began working as a math teacher and coach in Birdville ISD. He also taught at R.L. Turner High School and Creekview High School in Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD, L.D. Bell High School in Hurst-Euless Bedford ISD, Denison High School in Denison ISD, and Smithson Valley High School in San Antonio ISD, according to the release.
Trotter has also served in non-teaching positions as Chief Administrative Officer at Tomball ISD and as the Superintendent of Schools at Cleveland ISD.
Coppell ISD Superintendent Dr. Brad Hunt said he has high expectations for Trotter due to his long history working in the school system.
“I am excited to have Chris Trotter join our team,” said Hunt in the press release. “His extensive background in public education and experience with school district operations will serve the district well. Mr. Trotter brings a high level of expertise and will do great things for Coppell ISD.”
Trotter will be replacing Dr. Dennis Womack, who is now working in McKinney ISD as the Assistant Superintendent of Business, Operations, and Technology, according to a press release from McKinney ISD.
Womack has almost three decades of experience working in public education in North Texas, experience that McKinney ISD Superintendent Shawn Pratt believes will help the district greatly.
“Dr. Womack brings a wealth of experience to McKinney ISD,” Pratt noted in the press release. “During his 27 years in public education, he has overseen finance, technology and operations, and we feel very fortunate to have him return to be part of our McKinney ISD family. We are confident that our students and staff will benefit from his leadership on our cabinet.”
The announcement comes as many districts begin to prepare for the return of students to public schools. Coppell ISD public schools will begin classes in less than one month on August 15.
In preparation for the start of classes, one local ISD will be holding a back-to-school fair.
Plano ISD’s annual Back to School Fair is scheduled for Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Plano Event Center, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
