Goodwill North Central Texas inaugurated a brand-new campus in early May, revealing two renovated buildings: a local headquarters and a career center to provide enhanced services to the northeast Fort Worth region.

The opening ceremony held on May 4 introduced two newly remodeled buildings along Texas 121 located at 4200 and 4304 Airport Fwy., according to NBC 5.

A two-story, 27,718-square-foot administration building equipped with a large community room now welcomes HQ staff previously working from an office at 4005 Campus Dr.

Next door, a single-story, 10,474-square-foot building houses a career center with plenty of classroom space to run Goodwill’s missions among at-risk youth, ex-offenders, people with disabilities, and more in partnership with its North Texas Institute for Career Development.

Goodwill career centers aim to provide personalized support to those in the community needing help to identify or meet their job goals, per Goodwill.

As a press release announcing the new Fort Worth project in November 2021 explained, Goodwill North Central Texas aims to serve 35,000 more people in the next few years with its expanded credential programs, training programs, and educational programs.

“Education and employment are the only proven pathways out of poverty,” explained the president and CEO of Goodwill Industries Fort Worth David Cox, according to the press release.

At the recent ribbon-cutting ceremony held on the over two-acre campus, representatives from the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce, and Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce were in attendance.

The purchase and remodel of the two buildings were made possible through a $10 million charitable donation from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott in 2020.

It was the most substantial private grant from an individual in the organization’s 70-year history, per a news release.

As The Dallas Express reported, both Scott and her ex-husband Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, have made sizeable contributions to charity and communities.

Scott has given away approximately $14 billion to over 1,600 non-profit organizations to date.

Last year, she awarded $16 million to Grand Prairie Independent School District, as The Dallas Express reported.
