At a memorial Wednesday evening for the victims of last weekend’s mass shooting at the Allen Premium Outlets shopping center, the daughter of one of the surviving victims gave an update on his condition.

As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Irvin Walker, 46, was shot multiple times by the gunman as he drove past the front of the H&M store at the mall. Video from a dashcam captured the incident, as the shooter can be seen and heard firing multiple shots at pedestrians and then at Walker in his car.

“He knows God is with him and that’s what he’s been saying since the beginning. He’s so spirit filled. It’s a relief to have someone who has faith in the people taking care of him,” said 24-year-old Jasmine Walker, CBS Texas reported.

She was in Atlanta the day of the shooting and returned to find her father hospitalized with three gunshot wounds, two to the chest and one to the right shoulder, according to a verified GoFundMe page raising funds for Walker’s hospital bills.

Walker had just dropped his wife off at the shopping center before looking for parking near the H&M store, where 33-year-old Mauricio Garcia reportedly fired a semiautomatic rifle at him.

“That’s gonna be with him for the remainder of his life — he won’t be able to do just simple things, [like] going into an airport, without the security alarm going off,” said Walker family attorney Daryl Washington, speaking with ABC News about the bullet fragments lodged all over Walker’s body that are purportedly not going to be removed.

“Our family and his brothers were there to kind of keep me informed, but it’s nothing like being in a room of a loved one that’s hurt. He’s my best friend,” she said, KERA reported.

Walker went through surgery on Monday, from which he is currently healing. However, he has another surgery scheduled on Friday. One of the bullets just nearly missed his heart.

“One thing I want to challenge everyone to do today is to call the loved one you haven’t talked to in a long time,” his daughter told the gathering on Wednesday, according to NBC 5.

“Express to them how much you love them, because you never know when it’s going to be the last time you talk to them,” she said.
