An apartment complex in Tarrant County caught fire early Thursday morning, displacing multiple residents.

The Kennedale Fire Department and Arlington Fire Rescue responded to reports of a fire at the Kennington Apartments shortly after 3 a.m. on August 3. The apartment complex is near the city line between Kennedale and Arlington.

Smoke and flames could be seen coming through the roof of one of the buildings, The Dallas Morning News reported.

Fire personnel evacuated the two-story building and soon had the blaze under control.

Kennedale Fire Chief James Brown reported that two upstairs units had sustained damage from the fire while units below the burned ones sustained water damage.

Eleven residents were displaced from their homes due to the fire, but no one was injured in the blaze.

The City of Kennedale reported in a Facebook post that those who were displaced lost everything they owned due to smoke, water, or fire damage.

“We are thankful no one was hurt. Kennedale Community Connections is looking for donations to help those affected to replace some of the things they lost,” the post said.

Brown said that the Red Cross has been contacted for assistance while the apartment complex is working to locate temporary shelter for the displaced residents.

City officials are also seeking the aid of the local community to help support those who lost their homes and possessions. Anyone who would like to donate furniture or gift cards for either food or clothing is encouraged to contact Jan Joplin, mayor of Kennedale.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

An apartment fire at Mira Monte Apartments in Fort Worth last week displaced 16 people, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

The following day, a house fire in Frisco left a family without a home. As covered in The Dallas Express, the incident led to the hospitalization of two firefighters due to extreme heat.

Earlier this week, Dallas Fire-Rescue battled several large grass fires in South Dallas, which caused damage to the Trinity River Bridge. The bridge had to be shut down pending repairs, The Dallas Express reported.
