The northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 75 were closed Wednesday morning because of a vehicle fire.

An 18-wheeler caught fire just after 5:15 a.m. after flipping at the Park Road exit in Plano.

Plano Fire Capt. Michael Carr said at a morning news conference that the northbound lanes of the highway were expected to be shut down “for several hours.”

Southbound lanes were blocked and slow to drive through, officials said.

Two people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, the chief said.

TxDOT said the tanker flipped over on its side. It was carrying a flammable liquid that erupted after the crash.

The fire was producing heavy smoke. Crews were letting it burn off.
